Wabtec Receives $75 Million Order for Subway Car Components

Wabtec Corporation has received approximately $75 million worth of additional option orders to supply components for 382 New York City subway cars being purchased under the Metropolitan Transit Authority's R-160 program.

New York City has now ordered 1,662 cars under the R-160 program. The cars are being built by ALSTOM Transportation and Kawasaki, and Wabtec has been supplying components for the previous cars.

The company will provide the same components for the 382 option cars as follows: brakes, couplers and current collectors (Wabtec Passenger Transit), door operators and related equipment (Vapor Stone), door panels (Milufab), and event recorders (Wabtec Railway Electronics). The cars are scheduled to be delivered over the next two years.
