Unit Rail Boosts Transit Presence with ATP Purchase

Unit Rail has acquired Advanced Track Products (ATP), a leading provider of fasteners in the rail transit market. Terms were not disclosed.

This is a strategic expansion for Unit Rail, the Overland Park, Kan.-based rail fastening division of Amsted Rail. ATP's products support the rail or track structure as well as provide electrical isolation. From transit/commuter to HAL freight, the addition of ATP's line of products allows Unit Rail to offer solutions for use in the transit/commuter markets, where its previous focus was exclusively on global freight markets.

"The joining of these two companies will provide customers with a solid and stable supplier of top quality products for all aspects of the rail industry," said Wes Hodges, vice president and general manager of Unit Rail.

Bill Osler and Scott Osler will continue to run ATP, which will remain based in Mattituck, N.Y.

"Advanced Track Products sees this partnership as an opportunity for Amsted Rail to provide support for the growth of the ATP product line, with ATP sharing its considerable experience from the transit fastening market," said Bill Osler, president of ATP.
