RSI Cancels 2010 Convention

The Railway Supply Institute's board of directors has voted to cancel the group's 2010 planned convention in Chicago in light of the difficult economic environment railroads and their suppliers are operating in.

RSI Chairman Marshall G. Beck said that the decision to cancel was made after much discussion about the state of the railroads, the railway supply industry, the impact on RSI membership and on the Coordinated Mechanical Associations. If the CMA decides to hold joint meetings in 2010, RSI said it would continue to provide administrative support.

RSI will start marketing efforts soon for Railway Interchange, an event in September 2011 in Minneapolis. Railway Interchange will feature indoor and outdoor exhibits and is a joint effort of RSI, Railway Systems Suppliers Inc., the Railway Engineering Maintenance Suppliers Association and the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance Association.
