OSIsoft, which provides operational intelligence, and LILEE Systems, a provider of mobile communications solutions, have entered into an alliance to help rail operators achieve Positive Train Control (PTC). The two companies will embed a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) connector for transferring data from LILEE’s IoT gateways to OSIsoft’s PI System.
The COTS connector will transfer data on speed, acceleration, vibration or other parameters on LILEE gateways and software on trains or trackside stations to PI Systems located in centralized control centers. Technicians can use the information to prevent potential equipment failure, identify safety risks or forward insights back to train operators. The connector will also monitor the health and operation of PTC technologies.
“We are very proud to work with OSIsoft, which has been a leader for years in managing real-time data in heavy industries with a focus on improving safety and operations” said LILEE CEO Jia-Ru Li. “OSIsoft’s PI System is a proven solution that can integrate seamlessly with LILEE’s portfolio of systems management solutions and edge IOT platforms for rail and bus operations, delivering a solid foundation for deep analytics.”
Companies will also be able to use LILEE and OSIsoft technology to perform long-term analysis to optimize routes, improve on-time arrivals, define maintenance schedules and reduce or improve regulatory and environmental compliance.
