Northern California’s Capitol Corridor Posts Record Ridership

The Capitol Corridor Joint Powers Authority (CCJPA) has released its Annual Performance Report for Fiscal Year 2019 (FY19), which reports five consecutive years of record-breaking ridership and revenue.

Ridership on the intercity passenger rail service for FY19 reached a record 1,777,136 riders and $38.03 million in revenue.

“Five straight years of record-breaking ridership and revenue show more and more travelers in the San Francisco Bay Area/Sacramento megaregion prefer train travel over driving,” said Rebecca Saltzman, CCJPA board chair. “Our increasing popularity reflects not only the continuation of a strong economy in Northern California, but also our commitment to delivering a ‘first-class’ customer experience for all passengers.”
