Thai Nguyen has been named design engineer for Unit Rail, the rail fastening division of Amsted Rail.
He has over five years of experience designing track fastening products with Pandrol. He attended Rutgers University where he earned a BS in engineering and received a Master's of Engineering with a concentration in mechanical engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology. He and his family have relocated to Overland Park, Kan., to work out of the Unit Rail corporate office there.
He will be responsible for the design, test and manufacturability of fastening components for end users in the freight and transit railroad industries, the company said.
