MTA Installing PTC on Metro-North’s Upper Harlem Line

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s (MTA) Metro-North Railroad will be installing Positive Train Control (PTC) equipment between Wassaic and Southeast from October 17 through October 21.

The work includes the installation of two antenna poles and two radio boxes, and a fiber optic splice that allows the PTC equipment to communicate with the rest of the system. Crews will also replace the highway grade crossing at Tenmile River Station on Sinpatch Road in the town of Wassaic, surface track, cut brush and trees, weld joints and renew drainage ditches.

During the work, temporary service changes will take place on the upper Harlem Line with buses substituting for trains between Wassaic and Southeast. Detailed schedules are available on the MTA website.
