MTA Begins FASTRACK Work on G Line

The New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) will close a portion of the G Line subway between Court Sq. and Bedford-Nostrand Aves. for maintenance, cleaning and repair work as part of MTA’s FASTRACK program. Closures will take place on four consecutive weeknights, from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. on June 5-9 and June 12-16.

Maintenance workers will repair and replace track, third rail, electrical and signal components, and remove debris from tracks and under or around the third rail. The crews will also repair tunnel infrastructure and signage, lighting fixtures and ADA components at the stations.

Alternative transportation options will be detailed in announcements and posters in stations and trains.

"FASTRACK has proven to have a significant impact on decreasing delays - both in terms of consolidating maintenance forces in a concentrated area and in terms of proactive maintenance that improves service delivery," remarked Wynton Habersham, senior vice president for the department of subways.

FASTRACK overnight work will take place on Line 1 between 96 St. and Dyckman St. for two consecutive weeks from June 19-23 and June 26-30.
