Metro-North to Improve Upper Harlem Line

Crews from the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s (MTAMetro-North Railroad will perform improvements on the Upper Harlem Line from July 20 to July 23.

Crews will renew the River Road grade crossing in Pawling; replace the crossing surface, rails and ties; and remove and rebuild the masonry at a culvert north of the Appalachian Trail station. The culvert work will improve drainage in the area to reduce the risk of flooding. Crews will also cut brush and weld rail joints.

To accommodate the track work, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on July 20, buses will substitute for select trains in each direction between Southeast and Wassaic on the Harlem Line. After 10 p.m. on July 21, buses will replace trains at all stations between Wassaic and Southeast. Normal train service will resume with the first scheduled trains on July 24.
