Metra, the Chicago area commuter rail service, will close the University Park Station on two Sundays, July 22 and July 29, for crews to work on a power maintenance project between the Richton Park and University Park stations on the Metra Electric Line.
The scheduled Sunday service will operate on these two days, but mainline service will originate from and terminate at the Richton Park Station. No trains will service the University Park Station.
The project includes the installation of an additional overhead DC line to supply power to a substation for Metra’s Richton Yard, supporting power upgrades to the yard. Power will be shut off between University Park and Richton Park during the installation process.
