The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) will begin construction improvements at Mansfield Station on the Providence/Stoughton Commuter Rail Line in early June 2017. The $7.5 million project improvements will make the station fully accessible with new pedestrian ramps, stairways accessible for inbound and outbound passengers, and replacement of the existing mini-high platforms.
Barletta Heavy Division Inc. will install two temporary platforms, while the existing mini-high platforms are replaced in order to maintain public access. Other improvements include repaving of both platforms; new canopies, tactile strips along both platforms, lighting, guard rails, bollards, signage, and curb cuts; and parking lot improvements.
The work is expected to be completed in 24 months.
