Ironhorse Resources Acquires Two Tennessee Short Lines

Ironhorse Resources, Inc. (IHR) has acquired the assets of Sequatchie Valley Railroad (SQVR) and the Walking Horse and Eastern Railroad (WHOE), effective immediately. The railroads, both based in Tennessee, will be renamed Sequatchie Valley Switching Company (SQSC) and the Walking Horse Railroad (WHRR).

Sequatchie Valley Switching Company is an 11.5-mile short line railroad that travels from near Jasper, Tenn., to Bridgeport, Ala., where it connects to CSXT. Walking Horse Railroad is an 8-mile short line railroad that connects with CSXT at Wartrace, Tenn.

“As we’ve continued to pursue growth and acquisitions throughout our franchise, we have specifically targeted growth in TN to bolster our operational efficiencies and marketing presence in the region,” said IHR President Matt Cundiff. “The addition of SQSC and WHRR will add diversification to our commodity base, increase our relationship with the CSX, and additionally provide the ability to market industrial sites available on both railroads and rail connectivity to the Tennessee River.”
