DCR Chosen to Operate Two Delaware Rail Lines

Carload Express, Inc., an operator of four short line railroads, has announced that its Delmarva Central Railroad (DCR) was selected to operate two rail lines owned by the State of Delaware, effective January 1, 2019.

The Lewes Running Track extends from Georgetown to near Harbeson, Del., and the Milton Industrial Track travels from Ellendale to near Milton, Del. These lines, which total 11.7 miles, are currently operated by Delaware Coast Line Railroad (DCLR) and connect with DCR at Ellendale and Georgetown. With the addition of the two lines, DCR’s network will total 188 miles in Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia.

“We express our gratitude to Delaware Department of Transportation for having selected Carload Express to serve the customers on their rail lines,” stated Mark Rosner, Carload Express president. “We are proud to be able to introduce seamless service to the customers in eastern Delaware and deliver the customer-centric service we have come to be known for.”

The two lines will be served by DCR’s existing freight service, with connections to Norfolk Southern at DCR’s interchanges at Clayton and Tasker, Del.
