Anacostia Rail Holdings Appoints Sidman General Counsel

Anacostia Rail Holdings, Inc., has named Mark H. Sidman to the newly created position of general counsel, effective Jan. 1, 2013.

In this role, Sidman will be responsible for legal guidance, regulatory matters, transaction negotiations and related matters for Anacostia and its railroad subsidiaries.

“Mark Sidman has ably assisted Anacostia over the years in a range of legal and transaction matters,” said Peter Gilbertson, president and CEO, in a written statement. “As Anacostia continues to grow, he will strengthen our management team as general counsel.”

Sidman has provided legal assistance to transportation and railroad industry clients for more than 30 years. He was partner, founder and transportation practice leader of Weiner Brodsky Sidman Kider PC, a Washington, D.C., law firm, and while there he represented Anacostia and many short-line railroads, trade associations and transportation-related businesses. He also has served as previously special assistant to the executive vice president of the United States Railway Association. He has a B.A. in economics from Hobart College and a J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.
