Wabtec to Supply Parts for NYC Subway Cars

Wabtec Corp. today announced that it has signed contracts to provide components for 300 subway cars that Bombardier Transportation is supplying to MTA New York City Transit under the R-179 order.

Wabtec Passsenger Transit will provide brakes, couplers and current collectors, and Bach-Simpson will provide event recorders and speed indicators, Wabtec said. The pilot cars are scheduled to be delivered at the end of 2014, and delivery of the production series cars is expected to begin in mid-2015.

“This is another significant project to expand and modernize a portion of the subway car fleet in New York City, and we’re pleased to work with Bombardier Transportation to help MTA achieve its objectives,” said Albert J. Neupaver, president and CEO of Wabtec, in a written statement.
